Can “Moneyball” Work In Football?

It’s not an unknown fact that the world of professional sports is constantly evolving. Solely evaluating players based on their playing abilities isn’t good enough anymore. Teams want to be the best. They will do anything to acquire the best coaches, players, scouts, and staff even if it means adopting some new school techniques. Finally the jocks and geeks join forces with the same goal to find the most productive athletes and win a championship.

2016 NFL Mock Draft 3.0: The Final Mock

The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. All the sleepless nights of scouting have lead to this day. Every scouting report has been tediously read and reread. The 2016 NFL Draft has arrived. Without further ado, I present my final mock.

Where Do They Go?

While everyone is caught up in the hype of 1st round talent, I’m digging a little deeper to pull out some late round gems. These three guys are prospects that could make an immediate impact with a team. Maybe they aren’t starting material yet, but they are intriguing enough to hold a roster spot. Let’s discuss which teams are the perfect fit for a few unconventional players.

2016 Mock Draft 2.0

Another blockbuster trade today. This time between the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles for the #2 overall pick. I think I read somewhere that this is the first time in almost 40 years where the top 2 picks have been traded. Anyway, let’s jump into my mock draft 2.0

2016 NFL Mock Draft

A big time trade happened today, which means a ton of mock drafts just got thrown in the garbage. For those who haven’t heard, the Tennessee Titans traded away their #1 overall pick to the newly minted Los Angeles Rams. This transaction writes in stone that the Rams are looking for a new QB. But just who might that be?

Luckily I waited for the perfect time to release a mock draft. A few things needed to be tweaked, but overall this trade will impact only a few teams. Who are those teams? Well, read on. And oh yeah, the 2016 NFL Draft is in exactly 2 weeks.

2016 NFL Combine: Winners and Losers

The world of professional sports is all about first impressions. Unfortunately this fact can either hurt or help a particular athlete. Most preliminary opinions come from watching film or reading the news. However, in the eyes of some scouts and coaches the NFL Combine is the ultimate job interview. Now that the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine is over, it’s time to discuss who made money and who left the stage with major questions.

Bronson Kaufusi Scouting Report

My final scouting report goes to the prospect who I think has the most upside. Bronson Kaufusi is a coach’s son and very well plays like one. He has an extremely high motor and gives over 100% on every play. I have no doubt that Kaufusi will make an immediate impact on any roster.

Jaylon Smith Scouting Report

Somewhere between Von Miller, Derrick Johnson, and Patrick Willis you’ll find Jaylon Smith. He has to be one of the most athletic linebackers I’ve ever seen. Smith can play both inside and outside (I think he’s better suited at ILB). The only problem is whether he can fully recover from a ACL and MCL tear.

Corey Coleman Scouting Report

Probably the most exciting WR to watch in this year’s Draft. His speed and big play ability are undeniable. However, his lack of skill with the route tree might hold him back from becoming a early superstar in the NFL. Additionally, Coleman will not be running the 40 at the Combine due to a hernia, making us wait until his Pro Day to see just how much speed he actually carries.
